- Description
- Our private client is looking to recruit a live-in Butler/House Manager for a position based in Hampshire. Duties will include but are not limited to:
• Take responsibility for all aspects of the running of the house and the staffing and general expenditure.
• Ensure security of residence at all times
• To assist each other with duties as and when applicable
• Supervise and assist with the heavy cleaning tasks, both inside and on the terraces around the pool
• Pool care
• Plan menus (in conjunction with Principal)
• Shop locally for fresh produce to use alongside the produce from the vegetable and fruit garden
• Cook nutritious meals for family and guests
• Greet guests and ensure they have everything they need
• Hire temporary staff as and when required
• Table setting
• Wait at table and serve wine
• Ensure stocks of wine and other beverages are correctly stored allowing for temperature changes
• Keep accurate household records and record petty cash expenditure
• Inform Principal in their absence via email of weekly activity in the household – including update on works list
• Ensure all household equipment including lighting and AV systems are in sound working order – thorough check to be carried out well in advance of family and guests arriving.
• Ensure vehicles are valeted and in good working order
• Drive Principal and guests as and when required (There is a chauffeur)
• Ensure security of residence at all times
• Carry our simple maintenance indoors and outdoors
• Organise, with authority from Principal, external contractors for major works
• Unpacking and packing for Principal, family and guests if required
• Up-keep of furniture, art, china, silver and crystal
• Maintain inventories of wine, arts and collectibles
• Ensure health, safety and hygiene standards are adhered to
• Wardrobe management
• Flower arranging
• Stock taking
• Maintaining a Menu Book in which meals, dates and guests names are recorded
Working hours and accommodation details to be confirmed. Salary negotiable, depending on experience.
Unless otherwise specified a minimum of 2 years relevant experience is required to receive the advertised rate of pay
